「日本の医療費は毎年『過去最高』を記録し、国が支払う医療費が現在は36兆円だと厚労省は発表しています。記者クラブもそれを鵜呑みにして記事にしている。でも実際には、日本のGDP当たりの医療費は先進国でいちばん少ない。今までずっと、無理やり押さえ込まれていたんです。

　それを知らない国民は『過去最高』という言葉に惑わされて、毎年医療費が膨らんでいると危機感を持つ。その結果、『患者の医療費負担額を上げる』という政策が出されれば、国民は『医療費が増えて国の税金が逼迫しているのだから、負担が増えてもしょうがない』と思い込むわけです。これは、情報操作でしょう。

　さらに言えば、日本国民の医療費窓口自己負担額は、すでに現在先進国中でトップクラスなんですよ。このことも、ほとんど報じられていないでしょう。まさに、何も知らされていない国民が一番不幸です」(前出・本田医師)
